We are Sleepy Headed Spinners. We’re a group of recreational athletes & friends who come together to train on Spin Cycle Trainers and have some fun doing it! We are coached on DVD by Coach Troy Jacobson and love his workouts. We all go at our own pace and all finish together. We spin for fun and to raise awareness and funding for MS and Cancer Research. Together, we’ll spin towards a cure one revolution at a time.

Thanks to all of our wonderful Cycle for Survival participants and supporters, some promising new projects at Memorial Sloan-Kettering have already been funded by proceeds from last January’s event, including:
- Two clinical trials to test drugs that block certain pathways that keep sarcoma cells alive, with the goal of finding new ways to destroy these cancer cells.
- A research project that focuses on a new way to treat a type of rare cancer by changing the pattern of genes turned on and off, which appears to cause the tumor cells to self-destruct.
- A study aimed at gaining new insights into the biology of a specific type of rare tumor as the first step in developing new approaches to treatment.
- An investigation to identify and develop drugs that block the growth of pancreatic cancer cells.
Participation in Cycle for Survival has helped make this pioneering work possible!
Find more detailed information about these exciting projects on the new Cycle for Survival 2010 Web site, which is scheduled to launch in just a few weeks. In the meantime, visit the Cycle for Survival page on Facebook for the latest updates about the new Web site and our expanded 2010 event.
Thank you for everything you’ve done to help Memorial Sloan-Kettering achieve important advances in cancer research that make a difference in the lives of patients everywhere.
Sincerely,

Katie Kotkins

On January 25, the Sleepy Headed Spinners joined more than 1,500 cyclists, survivors and friends who all “geared up” at Equinox Fitness Club in Manhattan and at satellite locations worldwide for the third annual ride against cancer. This event was in support of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

We are the Sleepy Headed Spinners and we’re training indoors during winter. I am training for the 2009 MS Bike Tours. I’ll be riding in the MS 150 Leduc to Camrose again.
The Sleepy Headed Spinners are a group of friends and recreational cyclists training indoors during the winter in Alberta! It’s just too darn cold and too icy to ride outside! Once the weather warms up and the streets are clear we’ll ride outside as the Sleepy Sunshine Spinners.
